The crash took place around 5:13 a.m., in the area of I-91 southbound, near Exit 6, in the City of New Haven, said the Connecticut State Police.
Troopers from Troop I-Bethany responded, along with personnel from AMR, the Department of Transportation and the New Haven Fire Department.
AMR transported the victim to Yale-New New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries. They were later pronounced dead at the hospital.
“As a result of the complexity of the collision scene, the roadway was closed for several hours from Exit 8 to Exit 6, and the State Police-Collision Analysis Reconstruction Squad was requested to assist,” state police said in a release.
The roadway is currently open.
Additional details will be released later Thursday.
